Q.ABCD is a cyclic quadrilateral. The sides AB and DC are extended to meet at point P, and the sides AD and BC are extended to meet at point Q. If ∠ADC = 85° and ∠BPC = 40°, then find the measures of ∠BAD and ∠CQD.

In the cyclic quadrilateral ABCD, the external angle ∠PBC = ∠ADC = 85°. ∴ In triangle BPC, ∠BCP = 180° − (85° + 40°) = 55° Again, ∠BAD = external angle ∠BCP = 55° Now, in triangle CQD: ∠CQD + ∠DCQ = 85° ∴ ∠CQD = 85° − ∠DCQ = 85° − ∠BCP = 85° − 55° = 30° ∴ ∠BAD = 55° and ∠CQD = 30°
